Eric Hellgren is currently Editor-in-Chief of Wildlife Monographs. He held research and academic appointments at the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute at Texas A&M University, Kingsville and at Oklahoma State University before moving to his current position in the fall of 2005 as director of the Cooperative Wildlife Research Laboratory and professor of zoology at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. He and his graduate students primarily study applied aspects of mammalian ecology, but he also has examined the responses of reptiles to land-use management. Eric has published more than 125 peer-reviewed publications, including papers in ecology, conservation biology, Oecologia, Oikos, biological conservation, physiological and biochemical zoology, and The Journal of Wildlife Management; and six book chapters. He has served as an associate editor of several serial publications, including The Journal of Wildlife Management and Journal of Mammalogy.
