Council

The spring meeting of TWS Council will be held March 24-25 in Arlington, VA at the Crystal Gateway Marriott Hotel in conjunction with the Wildlife Management Institute’s  North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference. The Council meeting is open to the public.

The Wildlife Society is governed by a 13-member Council that is elected by the TWS membership.

The Council is composed of four officers (President, President-Elect, Vice President, and immediate Past President), eight Section Representatives, one from each of TWS's seven U.S. sections (Northeast, Southeastern, North Central, Central Mountains and Plains, Southwest, Northwest and Western) and one from the Canadian Section, and one Student Liaison appointed by the Student-Professional Working Group.

Officers are first elected to a one-year term as Vice President and then move successively through the positions of President-Elect, President, and Past President for a one-year term in each position.

Section Representatives serve for a three-year term and may be re-elected to a second three-year term. Terms of Section Representatives are staggered.

The Student Liaison serves for a one-year term while also serving as the Chair of the Student-Professional Working Group.

Officers are elected by the full TWS membership. Section Representatives are elected by TWS members living in that particular Section.
